Feedback from the Mettle Training Programme courses

‘I attended the "Mettle Urban Self-Protection" training course with some reservations as I was expecting a very rigid, technically and physically demanding course, with little relevance to the street and real scenarios. However, this was not the case and the "hands-on" instruction was both enlightening and confidence building.   The course was well organised, with ample equipment and, most importantly, delivered by enthusiastic and approachable instructors!   Over the weeks the course grew to cover all types of situations, attacks and weapons, which when combined with controlled full-contact scenarios, built in to a robust self-defence package. The core of the Mettle training is based around awareness and avoidance, backed-up with explosive attacker-debilitating techniques to allow any confrontation to be ended in limited personal injury with maximum chance of escape and survival - perfect!  I highly recommend this course - it gives you the experience and confidence to deliver the appropriate response in any confrontational encounter - if you ever need it - to return home safely to your loved-ones.’

‘It has made me more aware of my surroundings and certain situations. Interestingly, I have found that I can use adrenaline more positively under stress for example at work or on the top of a mountain (I’m very scared of heights) and when I have an aggressive driver behind me, bizarrely i’ve become calmer in these situations.’
Debbie – Research Scientist

‘It has given me the confidence to believe I may be able to do enough if attacked to get away’
Gayle – Research Scientist

‘It has given me a good boost of confidence and awareness. Good techniques are taught which can be envisaged in real life situations.’
Emma – Primary School Teacher

‘I am confident that I can now implement techniques that work. Not false confidence.’
William – Aerospace Engineer

‘I feel I have more confidence in my abilities and know what to do when I can no longer be ‘passive’ in a situation. The course was very informative and useful – also it is obvious people have enjoyed the course even though its nature is very serious.’
J – Primary School Teacher

‘Lots of good quality advice and strategies to use in a violent confrontation, this is mixed with fun.’
Charlotte – Primary School Teacher

‘Very enjoyable, extremely well structured. I enjoyed the use and control of adrenaline in scenarios and the group interactions. Also I enjoyed the warm-ups as i’m sat behind a desk all day.’
