Mission Statement

Our own delivery method of training is unique in that all techniques taught are put to the test in simulated scenario replication or combat rehearsals, with all the elements present of a ‘real’ conflict situation (as safety will allow). Such as adrenal stress, compressed decision time, anxiety and verbal / physical aggression.

By training in this manner we hope to prepare students (of any ability) both mentally and physically, how to cope and deal effectively with real conflict in its entirety –Pre-Conflict, Conflict and Post Conflict. Only by testing individuals in these realistic conditions can they begin to prepare for a real attack upon their person, in which winning means living, escaping and surviving and losing means possible injury or in the worst case scenario – death.

The main purpose of conflict rehearsal / scenario replication is to create experiences. Students will learn stress management, problem solving, conflict management skills,  threat assessment, responsibility for their actions, verbal and nonverbal behaviour, as well as how to respond effectively in instances of compressed decision time.

Our only rule is: If a technique can’t be learnt quickly and easily and put to the test successfully in a simulated ‘real’ situation, then that technique will be binned or replaced by one that does work.

Every person is different, some can naturally tune into the violent aspects of conflict, others struggle. At Mettle we recognise that everyone is unique and we focus on further developing the individual’s strengths as well as transforming weaknesses into strenghts. As instructors we are qualified to assess and develop learner’s needs.
